LAHORE – Two PIA planes narrowly escaped disaster in the air on May 10, due to negligence of Air Traffic Control (ATC) staff this month but no inquiry has so far been launched to probe the matter and fix the responsibility, an unconfirmed report said Monday.

As per report, on the day of incident an ATR plane Pk-550 took off from Karachi for Multan and after six minutes only, another plane B-747 from same airport was allowed to take off for Lahore. Both the planes were on same route initially and during ascending they hardly managed to avoid a disaster.

The report said pilots of both the planes had lodged a complaint to CAA through their director flight operation against negligence of the ATC staff. However, spokesmen of the PIA and CAA said any such incident was not in their knowledge.
