LAHORE – The Lahore High Court on Monday reproached the Federal Investigation Agency’s Punjab Director for demanding bribe by officials from a citizen, who had filed application for registration of case against a visa consultant.“The institute is being destroyed as corruption and political involvement in FIA has become a familiar practice,” Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi also absorbed.Justice Naqvi was hearing a petition of Rana Sultan seeking directions to the FIA for registration of a case against a visa consultant firm.He submitted that district and sessions court had ordered the FIA to register the case against the accused, who allegedly had received Rs0.470 million from him. He submitted that the accused had promised to send him abroad, but later he had refused to honour his words.He pointed out that Assistant Director Manwar Ranjha was asking for bribe amounting Rs100,000 for registration of case, while the officer, investigating his application for nine months, had also been transferred.FIA Punjab’s director Waqar Haider Bhatti appeared before the court following its orders.The court expressed displeasure over the whole picture regarding the case and admonished the provincial director.The court remarked that the FIA was being destructed due to which the problems of messes was increasing day by day.The court directed Waqar Haider to submit the record of inquiry report by June.Meanwhile, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) of Lahore Development Authority is going to recruit more directors, deputy directors and assistant directors and for this purpose the department has invited applications from suitable candidates for 49 posts of said officers, including three posts of Directors, 15 vacancies of Deputy Directors and 31 posts of Assistant Director, in various fields of specialization.The three posts of Directors include two posts of Director (Planning & Design /Private Housing Scheme) and one post of Director (Recovery). The 15 posts of Deputy Directors include seven post of Director (Planning & Design/ Private Housing Scheme), five posts of (Financial Management/ Recovery), and one each in the fields of (Human Resource Management), (Social Mobilization) and (GIS).The 31 posts of Assistant Director include 14 posts of Assistant Director (Planning & Design / Private Housing Scheme), 10 vacancies of Assistant Director (Financial Management / Recovery), two posts each of Assistant Director (Human Resource Management,) and (Social Mobilization), and three posts of Assistant Director / Research Officer (GIS).Last date for applying for these posts is May 23, 2012. Application forms can be downloaded from NTS’s website (http//:www.nts.org.pk). Offline test of candidates will be held in Lahore only on June 10, 2012. Result will be announced on June 18, 2012.
