KARACHI - As many as Rs6.7 million were robbed during a bank robbery in Baldia Town’s Naval Colony within the jurisdiction of Saeedabad police station on Monday.

Police officials said that at least four to five armed men entered the bank at around 2:45pm and held the staff and clients hostage.

They also snatched the weapons from the two security guards and took at least seven minutes to complete their swift operation.

DSP Abdul Haq Bhutto said that criminals had escaped before the arrival of the police, adding that the police has obtained the CCTV footage from the cameras installed at the bank, as the looters did not take the device.

The officer further said the initial investigation suggests that the local criminal group were behind the incident. He said that the bank staff and the security guards would also be questioned to probe the robbery as their involvement is not ruled out.

He said that the looted cash was around Rs6.7 million but it was not the exact amount as the bank officials were busy in counting. No case was registered till the filing of this news story.
