LAHORE - A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court to seek placing of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s name on the Exit Control List (ECL) in a 25-year old money laundering case moved by Barrister Javed Iqbal Jafree.

The petitioner has already a pending case since 1990 wherein he had accused Nawaz Sharif and others illegally sending money abroad. He has also accused the premier of misuse of authority in the award of LDA plots during his term as Chief Minister Punjab in 1988-90. The matter is pending hearing before a bench of five judges of this court.

Through the instant petition the petitioner contends that under the civil procedure code, it was his legal right to cross examine the respondent as well as present evidence against him in his presence as such he be restrained from traveling abroad by means of placing his name on the ECL.

Arrest warrants for LDA DG: Lahore High Court Justice Muhammad Furrukh Irfan Thursday issued arrest warrants of Director General Ahad Cheema and Chief Town Planner Ikram Chaudhry of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to seek their appearance on May 21 in a contempt of court petition. Earlier, hearing the petition, the court had summoned the said officers but they failed to show up. On it the court had sought their appearance bailable warrants of arrest.
