Islamabad - The National Assembly Standing Committee on Communication on Thursday examined a bill to provide an institutional mechanism for regulating courier industry in the country.

The bill “Establishment of Pakistan Private Courier Services Regulatory Authority” was moved in the house by MNA Belum Husnain. The need for the bill was felt in the wake of increasing terrorist activities which would help keep a check on dispatch of anti-state materials through various courier services. The meeting discussed the bill in length and decided to finalise it in the next meeting.

The officials of the ministry apprised the meeting that the government has also acknowledged the importance of such a mechanism and a comprehensive law in this regard has been drafted which will be placed before the committee for further consideration in the next meeting also.

The meeting was attended by MNA Sarzameen, MNA Muhammad Riaz Malik, MNA Ch. Khalid Javed Waraich, MNA Maiza Hameed, MNA Dr Darshan, MNA Nazir Ahmad Bughio, MNA Shabbir Ali Bijarani, MNA Engr. Hamidul Haq Khalil, MNA Maulana Qamar ud Din, MNA Sahibzada Tariqullah, MNA Naseema Hafeez Panezai, MNA Shahjehan Muneer Mangrio, MNA Engr. Usman Khan Tarkai and MNA Belum Husnain.

The meeting which held at the parliament house was chaired by MNA Sufyan Yusuf.
