PESHAWAR - National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has arrested Shezada Behram, the then Executive Engineer of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Nowshera, allegedly involved in purchase of sub-standard transformers at exorbitant rates.

The arrested accused Shahzada Behram was presently posted as manager small dams, FATA Development Authority Peshawar.  As per details the accused Shezada Behram purchased electric transformers under Tamir-e-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Health Engineering Department for which PHED was not authorized. Moreover he did not obtain NOC from PESCO.

Furthermore, the transformers were not as per approved brand of WAPDA/PESCO and were below specifications. The accused purchased 41 substandard transformers at exorbitant rates through fraudulent bidding process. Thus huge loss was sustained to the national exchequer.

It was also revealed during the inquiry that the accused neither took the supplied material on proper stock register nor entrusted it to PESCO for installation.

NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is actively pursuing the inquiry. The accused person will be produced before the accountability court for obtaining his physical remand.
