LAHORE - A 36-year-old woman and her two daughters were buried alive when the roof of their house collapsed during heavy downpour in Manawan area, rescue workers said on Thursday.

Rescuers managed to pull out a boy from the debris after hectic efforts. He was shifted to a hospital with serious injuries.

Local residents said the house was in dilapidated condition and its roof collapsed during heavy downpour on Thursday evening.

Resident of Shah Di Colony, Sunmbal Bibi along with her two daughters and a son was present in the house when all of a sudden its roof caved in. Her husband, Waseem, was at work when the roof collapsed.

Local residents immediately rushed to the spot and started removing debris to pull out the victims. Later rescuers workers also reached there and launched the operation.

All the four family members were rushed to hospital with multiple injuries where Sunmbal and her daughters including 10-year-old Afshan and two-year-old Chandni expired later. The condition of her son, Aftab, was reported to be serious till Thursday night.

Meanwhile, three persons were injured seriously when the roof of another house collapsed in a village near Barki.

Alamgir, his wife, and son were present in the house when its roof collapsed. They were rushed to hospital where the condition of Kanwal Bibi was said to be serious.  Authorities concerned  came under fire after the collapse.
