Former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Chaudhry Nisar has dispelled reports that claimed that he may take oath as a member of the Punjab Assembly.
Chaudhry Nisar said that he does not intend to take oath of membership of the Punjab Assembly and the news is outrightly false.
Earlier in 2018 general elections, Chaudhry Nisar stood as an independent member of the Punjab Assembly from PP-10 Rawalpindi, and won the elections. However, he didn't take the oath of the provincial assembly seat.
It is pertinent to mention that the Cabinet Committee on Legislation had passed an amendment to the Election Act 2017, which stated that if an electes representative fails to take oath within 60 days, the seat will become vacant, and Election Commission will de-notify such representatives.
