KARACHI - Aqeel Anjum struck an unbeaten double century and Nasir Jamshed and Fawad Alam hit up tons as NBP posted mammoth 520/7 declared in its first innings on the penultimate day of the four day Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Division-I match against Karachi Blues here at the National Stadium. Aqeel Anjum was unbeaten 203 runs and as soon as Fawad Alam reached his hundred in the fourth ball of 118th over NBP applied closure. Karachi Blues had scored 298 in its first knock. At the close of the third days play Karachi Blues facing big first innings deficit of 222 was 90 for the loss of Hafiz Asad's wicket. NBP which resumed its first innings at overnight total of 227 for two added 293 runs in 54.4 overs after losing Nasir Jamshed scalp who scored 168. The bankers launched unrelenting attack on a weak Karachi bowling when they resumed their innings. The home fielders had tough task to stop the gushing flow of runs from the bats of Karachi century makers. With a full days play remaining Karachi Blues would do well if they could survive and draw the match. However facing pacer Wahab Riaz who had smashed through their bating line up taking six for 55 in the first innings would be big challenge to the home batsmen. In the division II match of the championship at NBP Cricket Stadium, Karachi Whites is placed in possible winning position at the close of the third days play against Multan which was forced to follow-on in the second innings after they had collapsed for 210 in the first knock in reply to Karachi Whites 440/7 declared which included an unbeaten 251 from Saeed bin Nasir. Multan resumed its first innings at 57/1 and their remaining nine wickets fell adding 153 runs to the overnight total. Faraz Ahmed Khan and Tabish Khan shared nine wickets between them in Multans first innings. Faraz Ahmed Khan took five for 49 and Tabish Khan four for 58. At the draw of stumps on the penultimate day of the match Multan in the second innings were 47/3. Ali Mudassir took 2/17 fighting to save the contest.
