ISLAMABAD - The 36th National Assembly (NA) session started on Monday after a period of 26 days. The session suspending the business of the day unanimously passed a motion to pay tribute to the late Begum Nusrat Bhutto, former chairperson of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). The legislators from Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League (N), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Awami National Party (ANP) paid tribute to the services and sacrifices of Nusrat Bhutto for the restoration of democracy in the country. The house witnessed low attendance from almost all the political parties on the first day of the session which was adjourned after the around one hour. In the start of the session, Minister for Water and Power Naveed Qamar moved a motion requesting the chair to attribute the day to late Nusrat Bhutto by suspending the business of the day, besides offering Fateha for her departed soul. Former Minister for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi led the fateha and after it members of opposition and government benches made little speeches and paid tribute to the late Nusrat Bhutto. Paying tribute to the Begum Nusrat Bhutto, Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim said that Begum Nusrat Bhutto was brave and courageous lady. She faced dictator General Ziaul Haq with courage and her services for the cause of democracy would always be remembered. He said that late Nusrat Butto was mother of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and wife of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Shakeela Khanam Rasheed said that in her struggle for democracy Nusrat Bhutto had faced many hardships. Her efforts for 'Movement for Restoration of Democracy ' are exemplary. She was a great lady who sacrificed her husband, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, her two sons and her daughter, Benazir Bhutto, for democracy in the country. Paying tribute to Nusrat Bhutto, MNA Sheikh Aftab from PML-N said that Bhuttos family have important role in the politics of Pakistan. Nusrat Bhutto faced hardship for democracy. MQM legislator Abdul Qadir Khanzada said that the services of Nusrat Bhutto for democracy would be remembered. Nusrat Bhutto in her life faced much hardships for democracy he added. A legislator from ANP Pervez Khan Advocate said that Nusrat Bhutto was strong nerved lady. I salute this great lady ..she left behind many memories, he added. Paying rich tribute to Nusrat Bhutto , Raja Pervez Ashraf former Federal Minister for Water and Power said that the brave lady in difficult time led a movement for democracy. Having same sentiments another PPP legislators Farahnaz Isphani, Fauzia WahabAfzal Sindhu said that the struggle of Nusrat Bhutto was matchless as she raised her voice in difficult time. Meanwhile, sharing the details of grounded aircraft Minister for Defence Ahmed Mukhtar in a written reply of question-hour said that as of 12th October 2011, seven aircraft are undergoing maintenance checks in PIA engineering department. These include three B747 aircraft, two A310 aircraft one B737 and one ATR-42 aircraft. By 20th October,2011, three aircraft will be rolled out for operation, whereas one B747 aircraft will be out by 30th October,2011. The remaining three aircraft will roll out by 30th November 2011. The grounding of aircraft to carry out any scheduled check/maintenance as recommended by the manufacture and regulatory authority is a built in feature of the flight schedule, hence no flights are affected. In a written reply, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain said that the 8,741 persons were given punishment which on their involvement in gas pilferage on SNGPLs system during the period from 1 July 2010 to 28 October 2011. According to the province wise total volume of pilfered gas detected during the year 2009-10, 4425 persons including 3,096 from Punjab, 336 from KPK, 780 from Sindh six from Balochistan and 207 from Islamabad. In 2010-11, 3196 from Punjab, 278 from KPK, 510 Sindh, 17 from Balochistan and 319 from Islamabad, he added.
