Recently four persons were shot dead in a firing incident at Rawalpindi District Court. Three of these were prisoners, who were being escorted by the police for their hearing and were attacked by the rival group, while a passerby was also killed. This incident highlights the lapse of security on behalf of the police. This is not the first time that such an episode has occurred. There have been numerous cases in the past, where rival groups have targeted each other during hearings at courts. Given the previous such occurrences, it is expected that the police would beef up security measures, but unfortunately this is not the case. Yasir Hameed Islamabad
