ISLAMABAD - Religious and political leaders on Thursday called for following in the footsteps of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) to get succeeded in this world and hereafter.
In his message, President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the Day of Ashura reminds us of the martyrdom that Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions including innocent children embraced at Karbala to uphold the uprightness and preserve the sanctity of Islam.
"The best way to pay homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions is to resolve that we will mould our lives in accordance with their teachings," the President said in his message on the occasion of Ashura Muharram 1436 AH.
He said that while observing the Day of Martyrs of Karbala, we should pledge that we will not refrain from offering any sacrifice for the sake of our dear homeland.
He said that Pakistan was created to achieve such high ideals for which the family of our beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) offered great sacrifices.
He said that under the present circumstances, more than ever before, we need to demonstrate greater unity and discipline so as to frustrate the enemies' designs.
He said that this day teaches the Muslims that upholding the high ideals of Islam and perseverance are the ultimate objectives for which we should offer every sacrifice. This is the exemplary conduct of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) known as "Uswah-e-Shabbiri."
Separately, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that in the wake of ongoing conflict between the right and falsehood, we need to seek inspiration and guidance from the uprightness of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) to frustrate the evil designs of those damaging the true spirit of Islam.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif stressed elected representatives and ulema to play their role for maintaining an atmosphere of religious harmony and brotherhood on Youm-e-Ashur and public representatives should personally monitor law and order with the help of police and administration.
He directed that the foolproof security plan evolved for this purpose be fully implemented and no effort be spared to maintain a peaceful atmosphere on the occasion of Youm-e-Ashur. He stressed the need for renewing pledge to lead the life for cause and public service. He said that Islamic teachings should be followed to cope with challenges confronting the Ummah.
