TANK - Unknown armed men Thursday kidnapped Haji Sher Bahadur, a close aide of JUI-F chief’s Maulana Fazlur Rehman, from Tank district, sources said on Thursday.

According to details, Haji Sher Bahadur and his companion Haibat Khan were on their way home when armed men intercepted them in Dolat Koroona area of Frontier Region of Tank and abducted them at gunpoint. There was no detail of the whereabouts of the kidnapped persons.

No group or individual has so far claimed responsibility for the abductions.

Online adds: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Thursday that due to drone attacks, the dialogue process with the Taliban has temporarily been stalled.

According to a private television, Fazl, while stressing on the need for dialogue with Taliban, said, “We have to find avenues to talk to the Taliban in the larger interest of the country.”

The JUI chief said the people of FATA should also be included in the dialogue process. He further said a third party would not be allowed to hijack “our national interests”. Fazl also said the tribal jirga would be convinced to talk to the Taliban.

Curfew imposed in Hangu

Staff Reporter from Hangu adds: In a bid to avoid any possible untoward incident during Ashura, the district administration of Hangu on Thursday imposed three-day curfew in the district. District Hangu is one of the sensitive districts as several unpleasant incidents of terrorism have been occurred during Muharram in the past.

According to Deputy Commissioner Hangu Syed Ahmed Jan, the curfew has been imposed from Muharram 9th to 11th.

“Besides, cellular phone services have also been blocked in Hangu just because of Muharram,” he said. He said that not only this, aerial surveillance would also be conducted on Muharram 9th and 10th.
