In a recent statement, Ashraf Mahmood Wathra, Governor, State Bank of Pakistan said that digital financial inclusion is going to be the cornerstone of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (NFIS), which is being formulated currently. While citing the impressive growth of branchless banking (BB) industry in terms of agent network, number and volume of transactions etc., he also acknowledged that the BB industry has not been able to register mobile accounts, massively in comparison to the potential market.

One way to further facilitate the growth of mobile accounts is to make it as useful as possible for the common man. For instance allowing payment of traffic fines, motor vehicle taxes, property taxes, and disbursement of National Savings funds etc via mobile accounts will not only further its growth but will also help reduce corruption and above all it will make lives more convenient.
