10 activists hurt in political clashes

At least 10 people suffered bullet injuries in clashes between the political workers and supporters of PML-N, PPP and an independent candidate here on Saturday.
Three workers of PPP got bullet injuries as a result of a clash between PML-N and PPP at Ladhewala Warriach. The PPP workers were busy installing banners and hoardings when the PML-N workers allegedly tried to stop them.
After exchange of harsh words, PML-N candidate of councillor Rana Tariq along with his supporters Khan Muhammad and Munir opened fire at them. Resultantly, Shahbaz, Nawaz and Qadir got bullet injuries and were rushed to DHQ Hospital. Ladhewala Warriach police have recovered two Kalashnikovs and arrested 21 people of both the parties and registered a case. Meanwhile, Aroop police arrested two persons for carrying arms during election campaign at Yousafpura and recovered two Kalashnikovs and 140 bullets. Ghulam Mustafa and Ayub Khan were busy in election campaign for a councillor when the police raided and recovered the illegal arms.
Likewise, a political clash took place between two rival candidates and their supporters for the slot of chairmanship in UC 27 Vandiala Dayal Shah, Sheikhupura. As a result, six persons sustained bullet injuries two of them seriously.
The two opponent candidates, Qasim Bhatti of PML-N and independent candidate Amir Aslam along with their supporters were on their election campaign in the same locality. After coming face to face, the workers from both the sides started chanting slogans against each other. Later, they restored to aerial firing.
As a result, Irfan and Ashfaq suffered critical bullet injuries and was shifted to a Lahore hospital. The Ferozewala police claimed Arshad Manda is brother of MPA Asghar.
In Hafizabad, a worker of PTI was injured when workers of both the PML-N and PTI clashed near the office of Sh Khalid Sargeant, candidate for the slot of general councillor in Ward No-44. Workers of both the parties fell upon each other and there was free of all resulting in jury to Sh Muhammad Azam brother of Khalid Sargeant.
