The PTI will make a clean sweep in the forthcoming second phase of local bodies elections in the district, claimed PTI district leader Ch Mehdi Hassan Bhatti.

He was addressing a corner meeting in Ward No-34 Hafizabad held to muster support for PTI candidate for general councillor Muhammad Akmal the other night.

He said that rivals of PTI have been disappointed due to its growing popularity and are hell-bent on creating lawlessness by provoking the PTI workers.

He stressed the need for tolerance and forbearance in order to maintain peace and congenial atmosphere in the district. On the occasion, people belonging to different Biradaris of the area announced their support for PTI candidate Akmal.

Prominent among those who addressed the corner meeting included former MPA Muzaffar Ali Sheikh, former Nazim Malik Ishaq Javed, Hafiz Muhammad Shahid and Abdul Ghaffar Ghaffari.

N, PTI CANDIDATES BOOKED: PML-N candidate Muhammad Asif Chattha and PTI candidate Zaheer Awan, for the slot of general councillor in Ward No-21 were booked under Section l6 Maintenance of Public Order for creating rowdyism in the area.

Both the groups allegedly indulged in aerial firing to harass each other last night. Both the candidates had submitted applications to the City Police, accusing each other of resorting to firing. The city police have registered case under the MPO against both the candidates.
