HAFIZABAD-A young couple died and 12 others got critical injuries in two road accidents occurred in different areas due to poor visibility owning to thick smog on Tuesday.

According to rescue sources, Ihsanullah along with his wife of Gondalanwala, was on the way back to Gujranwala on a bike. As he reached near Dharanwali village, a dumper truck, coming from opposite direction, hit the bike. As result, the couple died before any medical aid could be made available to them.

The dead bodies were shifted to DHQ Hospital morgue for legal formalities. The police arrested the dumper driver and registered a case against him.

On the other hand, 12 persons including two women sustained injuries when a car and a van collided head-on on Khanqah Dogran Road near Muttam village in the wee hours of Tuesday.

According to police source, Bilal Ahmad, resident of Mughalpura, Hafizabad, along with his family members was on way to Hafizabad in a car. Near Muttam village, a speeding van, coming from opposite direction, dashed against the car. As a result both the vehicles overturned.

The accident was too dreadful but luckily there was no fatality. However, 12 injured were shifted to the local hospital where condition of two of them is causing concern.
