LAHORE - The Desert Camels Under -13 Team from Pakistan stood runners-up in the Tullow Oil Touraid Cup in UK. The Desert Camels arrived back in Lahore after an outstanding performance in the Tullow Oil Touraid 2008 Cup in UK to finish. The team won all the four games in their group to reach the final against Madagascar which was a fiercely contested match won by 17-5. The "Desert Camels Rugby Club," a group of Ten under-13 boys from the Fort Abbas District Bahawalnagar toured UK under the auspices of the Pakistan Rugby Union 'PRU' and financial support of the British charity Touraid other teams participating were from Tanzania, Namibia, Madagascar, South Africa, Uganda, Trinidad and Tobago, Ghana, India and The Ivory Coast. The Desert Camels dominated all week the group stages with their first game against Ghana 7-0, the next victory with over Namibia 17-0, then against Ivory Coast 12-0 and UK Barbarian 22-5. In the final the desert camels fought hard and were close to scouring on many occasion, but better defence by their opponents kept the Camels from the try line. England first division Wasps player John Hart presented the trophies to the teams Coca Cola Pakistan has been instrumental in the development of Rugby in the Punjab and has sponsored Inter-district and Inter-schools Rugby championships over a number of years.
