In the past, the terrorists were targeting mainly the security apparatus of Pakistan but over a span of time, they started attacking everybody they could kill, could lay their hands on. Recent blasts in Qissa Khawani bazaar Peshawar, Liaqat Bazaar Quetta and Food Street Lahore are some examples of this phenomenon that shows the extent to which the menace has grown.
The current wave of terrorism intends to create a sense of insecurity among the public as public places are under target. The greatest challenges that the new government faces is on the national security front. All other challenges are directly or indirectly linked to it such as foreign investment and healthy economic activity. The need of the hour is an amalgamation of military and political solution. The government should not try to appease the Taliban any further.
