RAWALPINDI - Due to threats of any possible terrorist attack on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, concerned authorities have beefed up the security at Adyala Jail.
After the attacks on jails in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, intelligence agencies have disclosed fear of possible attack on Adyala Jail on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, which alarmed the authorities to take precautionary measures.
In this regard, a mock exercise was done jointly by Rangers and Police Commandoes at Adyala Jail on Monday to avert any untoward incident. Emergency sirens were also buzzed by the law enforcers.
According to sources, search operation was also conducted in all the barracks of jail to purge them from arms, mobile phones, sims or narcotics. The sources also disclosed that the authorities have increased the number of check posts around the jail besides deputing heavily equipped security personnel to guard the jail.
On the other hand, Interior Ministry issued red alert in Rawalpindi to save the citizens from any possible terrorist activity on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha. For the purpose, some 4,000 police jawans including ladies police both in uniform and in civvies will be deployed at 652 mosques, 73 open places and 67 Imambargahs to guard the lives and property of the citizens.
