Artists’ stipend sacrificed

LAHORE - With Eidul Azha approaching fast (tomorrow), senior artists are still waiting for the stipend from Punjab government.
“No senior artist has been paid the monthly stipend so far while Eid is around the corner”, said A Nayyar, a popular singer while talking to The Nation.
He said artists were desperately waiting for the cheques to be delivered to them ahead of Eid, but there was no indication from the government so far to make the payment.  On behalf of artists’ community, Nayyar appealed to the Chief Minister Punjab to personally look into the matter.
Anti dengue drive to go on
Punjab Minister for Health Khalil Tahir Sindhu has directed officials to ensure provision of diagnostic and treatment facilities for dengue patients at public sector hospitals during Eidul Azha holidays.  Chairing a meeting held here Monday, he directed Secretary Health to ensure functioning of hospitals during Eid holidays.
Khalil Tahir Sindhu said that dengue counters should also remain operational. He directed presence of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff so that the patients coming should not face any difficulty.
