ISLAMABAD - Former president Pervez Musharraf on Monday reiterated his earlier stance that he was not involved in hatching a plan to kill deputy cleric of Lal Masjid and his mother.

Former president recorded his statement before an investigation team of Islamabad capital territory police comprising DIG Headquarters Khalid Khattak, SSP Sajid Kiyani and SP Jamil Hashmi that called him in his residence that has been given status of a sub-jail.  Sources said Musharraf categorically denied involvement in killing of deputy cleric and his mother. during Lal Masjid operation conducted by security forces in 2007.

It is worthy to mention here that Islamabad police had registered a case against Musharraf last month following direction issued from the Islamabad High Court in killing of Abdul Rasheed Ghazi during the 2007 Lal Masjid operation.

Islamabad police arrested Pervez Musharraf on Thursday last week in Abdul Rasheed and his mother’s killing case just hours after submitting surety bonds in the Supreme Court for bail.
