MULTAN-The administration of Multan Passport Office has sought the district administration help for removal of camps set up by the tout mafia operating outside the office to extort money from the applicants. Multan Passport office Assistant Director Ch Muhammad Sharif said that the passport officials working at Multan were efficient enough to guide the applicants desirous of obtaining a passport. “An information counter has already been operational for guidance of the applicants and there is no need for external help,” he added.
“We convey information to the district administration again and in response they uprooted their camps but the powerful tout mafia again installed their makeshift facility after some days.”
Earlier, they used to operate right in front of the office but after repeated action by the administration, they have now shifted to the other side of the road, the official said.
He said that another letter had been sent to DCO Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah seeking help against the tout mafia. He urged the people to avoid seeking help from the outsiders and approach the information counter for guidance. It will save them from paying extra-money to the touts in addition to the passport fee.
