Shops to close by 7pm, marriage halls by 10pm

KARACHI - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Friday directed to implement decision of closing super markets and shops in the Karachi at 7pm and marriage halls at 10pm from November 1 and also called for adopting one dish scheme at the marriage ceremonies. 

He took this decision today while presiding over a meeting here at the Cm House yesterday. The meeting was attended by Minister for Industries Manzoor Wassan, Advisor to CM on Labour Saeed Ghani, Law advisor Murtaza Wahab, Additional Chief Secretary (Dev) Mohammad Waseem, Additional IG Karachi Mushtaq Maher, Commissioner Karachi, DIGs and deputy commissioners.

The chief minister was of the view during the meeting that the marriage functions start late and continue till late night and even there is no limit of dishes being served in these functions.

He decided that the marriage halls would finish their marriage functions by 10 pm and only one dish would be served and further vowed not to attend those functions where more than one dishes would be served.

The chief minister after consultation set the deadline of the implementation of the decisions as November and directed commissioner Karachi to talk to the owners of the marriage halls and convince them that it would not affect their businesses.

He further said that he had no problems how early markets and shops are opened but the closing time would be 7 pm and would not have any adverse affect on business.

He also directed that commissioner Karachi Aijaz Ali Khan to hold meetings with malls and market associations/owners and convince them to implement the government decision.

Syed Murad Ali Shah said that when people would consider his decision with peace of mind they would find lot of benefits of starting their working day in the morning and finishing it in the evening. This would save their personal energy, electricity, unnecessary rush on the roads and top of it “you would look fresh and fresh,” he said in the lighter mood.

He also directed the Additional IG Karachi, Mushtaq Maher to support the divisional and district administration of the city in implementation of the decision. CM orders to initiate development work of Education City

Meanwhile, the provincial government also decided to start infrastructure development of Sindh Education City with the objective of promoting quality education by allowing educational institution flourish.

Sindh Chief Syed Murad Ali Shah took this decision while presiding over a meeting on the development of Sindh Education City today here at the CM House. The meeting was attended by ACS (Dev) M. Waseem, Chairperson Sindh Board of Investment (SBOI) Naheed Memon, Principal secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch, Secretary Education Fazal Pechuho, Secretary Finance Hassan Naqvi, Architect Yawar Jilani and others.

Briefing the chief minister, the Chairperson SBOI, Naheed Memon said that the Sindh Education City stretching over an area of 8921 acres was located on the Link Road connecting National Highway with Super Highway. Around 70 educational institutions would be established in the educational city.

It was informed during the meeting that the development work of the project would cost around $800 million as per initial working.

Chairperson (Board of Investment) BoI said that there were some issues of land between land Utilization Department and Finance department. Once those issues were settled the possession of the city would be handed over to the BoI.

On this the chief minister issued necessary directives to the chief secretary Siddique Memon to get all the standing issues of the education city settled.

The chief minister directed the BoI chairperson to convene the meeting of its Board of Governors to taken some policy decisions such as appointment of project director and release of allocated funds.

He also directed BoI to constitute Executive Management Committee (EMC) to float tenders and award contract and look after day to day affairs of the city.

The chief minister said that he was keen to start the education city which turn to be one of the best educational city imparting quality education.
