ECP takes notice of Saad’s statement

ISLAMABAD - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has categorically said that no candidate or party could interfere in the election-related functions of the commission.

Taking strict notice of the statement issued by former federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, the ECP said in a statement that the Returning Officer of NA-131 Lahore was consolidating the results of the constituency in the presence of relevant candidates and polling agents.

ECP would not tolerate the interference of any party or candidate in performing constitutional duties, the statement added.

No candidate or party has the right to interfere or pressurise the Returning Officers, Presiding Officers or Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in performing their constitutional duties.
