Musharraf refuses to record statement via video link in treason case

Former president and suspect in high treason case General Pervaiz Musharraf has refused to record his statement on the video link.
A special court headed by Justice Yawar Ali took up high treason case against Musharraf for hearing on Monday.

During the course of the hearing, Pervaiz Musharraf’ counsel Salman Safdar took the plea that his client does not want to record his statement through a video link instead he wants to defend himself by appearing in person before the court.

Prosecutor counsel said that Pervaiz Musharraf had wasted the chance to record statement under section 342.
Justice Yawar Ali remarked, Musharraf has submitted the medical certificate of American hospital of Dubai in which date of August has been mentioned and this report is old.

Doctors should have reviewed the health condition of Musharraf once again, Justice Yawar Ali further observed.

On this, Salman Safdar said that his client condition is as it is and tests of cardiac illness are still be conducted adding if the court gives him more time then he can seek more directives.

Counsel Salman Safdar insisted that Pervaiz Musharraf is ill.

Justice Yawar Ali observed, “is he suffering from cancer?

Counsel replied that his client has heart disease as his client said that he is not a coward nor he is scared of anybody.

Earlier today, a special court hearing high treason case against former president Pervez Musharraf for subverting the constitution has decided to constitute a commission to record the statement of the former President in the case.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Muhammad Yawar heard the case in Islamabad.

The bench said if Pervez Musharraf has any objections to the constitution of the commission, he may approach the courts.

Hearing of the case has now been adjourned till 14th of next month.
