RAWALPINDI - A large number of people including Local Bodies' representatives have expressed their resentment and anger over the alleged misuse of funds and substandard construction materials in changing of sewerage lines in the city by Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA). The people have demanded of the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to order audit of the Rawalpindi Environment Improvement Project and take strict action against those officials as well contractors involved in the embezzlement of public money. It is worth mentioning here that the scheme is the part and parcel of REIP. Asian Development Bank (ADB) has funded this mega project costing Rs 5 billion in term of loan to change the entire sewerage lines and laying of new under-ground water pipelines. An independent body 'Project Management Unit' (PMU) has been given the task to supervise the whole project.
