Waziristan elders warn US of retaliation

ISLAMABAD (NNI) - Tribal elders and Maliks in North Waziristan have expressed concern over US attacks in Pakistan and warned of retaliation if it continued incursions into the tribal area. The reaction came out after the latest missile attack by US in Miranwhah, killing 12 people and injuring several others. A local elder, Malik Mumtaz Khan has said that US drones attacked here, killing children and women, which is inhuman. They have no right to come here and attack. "We warned them not to repeat the mistake of entering into this area," BBC quoted Mumtaz as saying. To a question about US claiming that they make the incursion across the border because Al-Qaeda and Taliban's hideouts are existing in the area and from here they organise attacks on US and NATO forces in Afghanistan, the local elder said 27 countries have their troops in Afghanistan and as such they should guard the Afghan border as they have come to the country for that purpose. They should not cross the border and attack Pakistani tribal areas, they asserted. When asked about any information about the presence of armed Taliban in the area, Mumtaz said: "We are not sure. Afghan Taliban attack them and they are there in Afghanistan." To another question, Mumtaz said the operations have been launched against the people who were operating against Pakistan military and the government of Pakistan. But the USA has no right to make incursion into Pakistan.
