HAFIZABAD - Seven minor children including four girls were killed and seven others persons sustained multiple injuries, belonging to two families, when wall of a nearby rice-sheller collapsed and fell down on their houses in village Abdullahpur (Thatha Gahra), 18-km from here Sunday morning.

According to rescue source, all the family members of Intizar Ahmad and Manzoor Ahmad were in their houses due to heavy rain when all of a sudden wall of nearby rice-sheller collapsed and fell down on their houses. Resultantly, both houses collapsed, burying 14 persons of both the families.

On information Rescue-1122 and villagers rushed to the scene and started rescue operation. They pulled out five children dead from under the debris while two others died in the hospital. Those killed were identified as Safia Bibi, Sidra Bibi, Misbah Bibi, Muntazir, Aftab Ahmad, Noor Fatima and Aqib Ali. All the dead were age between five years to 12 years.

The injured Tauqeer Bibi, Farzad Ali, Zaka Ullah, Khurshid Bibi, Noshaba, Intezar and Manzoor Ahmad were shifted to the DHQ hospital Hafizabad where condition of three of them is stated to be critical. The dead bodies have also been shifted to DHQ Hospital for legal formalities.

Meanwhile, DPO Muhammad Zubair Dareshak visited the DHQ Hospital to enquire after the health of the injured and directed the medical staff to provide all possible medical treatment to them.

He also expressed his sympathies with Intizar Ahmad and Manzoor Ahmad over the death of their minor children.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case under Sections 302/324 PPC against Qasim Ali, Shoukat Ali and Ansar Ali owners of the under construction sheller and have arrested Qasim Ali while two others managed to escape.

Meanwhile, two persons drowned in floodwater in Khanpur Qaziyan area of Shujaabad. The bodies of both the victims have been recovered.
