SHERGARH

Aam Aadmi Ittehad - a strong local political group established under the leadership of well-known social figure Dr Ziaul Hassan Tahir - and PML-N local chapter have formed an alliance to contest the LB election in Shergarh union council. According to the decision, Aam Aadmi Ittehad will support PML-N's candidates for chairman and vice-chairman in return for PML-N's support for all the candidates of councillor nominated by the Aam Aadmi Ittehad in the union council.

The breakthrough that is being attributed to the personal efforts of PML-N MNA and Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Railways Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani was achieved at a meeting held at the election camp of the Aam Aadmi Ittehad set up in Mohallah Farooq Nagar the other night. Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani accompanied by PML-N's candidate for Chairman Syed Zil-e-Hasnain Kirmani and others visited the election office of Aam Aadmi Ittehad and held negotiations with Aam Aadmi Ittehad chief Dr Ziaul Hassan Tahir and his team. The MNA assured Dr Tahir that the problems of the common man would be resolved on priority basis. Talking on the occasion, Dr Tahir said the objective behind the formation of Aam Admi Ittehad was to get the power transferred to a common man in real sense of the word and ensure his participation in the decision making process relating to the affairs of the town.

The negotiations that lasted till late in the night eventually yielded results and it was decided that the Aam Aadmi Ittehad will support PML-N's candidates for chairman and vice-chairman while the PML-N will back all the candidates of councillor nominated by the Aam Aadmi Ittehad in the union council. The MNA also gave Dr Tahir the mandate to nominate all the candidates of councilor in the union council. Political observers believe that the alliance has considerably strengthened the position of the PML-N in the union council and given it a marked lead over its opponents.
