Islamabad - The government of Pakistan and COMSTECH will host the maiden Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) Summit on Science and Technology in November this year. The COMSTECH, OIC standing committee on science and technology has prepared a major document for 57 member countries elaborating programmes and priority areas in science and technology as well as joint programmes for next 10 years.

Talking to APP, an official of ministry of science and technology (MOST) said the MoST and COMSTECH are holding meetings to prepare agenda of the meetings envisaged for guests participating in the upcoming summit. Statistics of funds being provided for research purposes in various OIC countries were shared for encouraging maximum participation by Muslim countries.

Coordinator General COMSTECH, Dr Shaukat Hameed Khan, headed the meetings. In order to sensitise various OIC countries, the coordinator general COMSTECH is hosting meetings with the ambassadors of those countries in successive groups.

More than dozen heads of states are expected to attend the summit, said a COMSTECH official.
