Rawalpindi - An anti-terrorism court has directed the commissioner Rawalpindi to finalise arrangements on October 1, 2015 to record the statement of Mark Siegel, a US author and key witness of Benazir Bhutto murder case, via video link from New York.

The court also issued notices to two more prosecution witnesses to appear before the court to record their testimonies in the high profile case and adjourned the hearing till September 21.

According to details, the anti-terrorism court took up the BB assassination case in heavily-guarded Adiala Jail during which Federal Investigation Agency Special Public Prosecutor Chaudhry Azhar Ali, counsel for Naheed Khan and other accused appeared before the court.

The FIA prosecutor declared the statement of a witness, Dr Azam, as unnecessary. The court ordered the commissioner to complete all arrangements to record statement of Mark Siegel in BB murder case on October 1 at 4:30pm in his office.

Meanwhile, the court accepted the plea of Naheed Khan, BB’s former political secretary, for getting attested copies of the case documents and statements of prosecution witnesses. The court issued notices to two more witnesses Inspector Kashif Riaz (the plaintiff) and SP Tahir Ayub to appear before court to record their statements in the case and deferred the hearing till September 21. The hearing was also attended by former CPO Syed Saud Aziz, former SP Rawal Division Khurram Shehzad and five others who were arrested in connection with the murder of the former premier.
