KARACHI - The lawyers should continue with their struggle as they are now close to achieving the cherished goal, said the deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in his telephonic address to a general body meeting of Malir Bar Association on Tuesday. The lawyers of Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA), Karachi Bar Association (KBA) and Malir Bar Association boycotted the court proceedings for an hour and staged a token hunger strike to protest the April 9 gory incident. Addressing the lawyers, the deposed CJ of Pakistan expressed his profound grief over the killing of lawyers in the murderous attack on April 9, appealing to the lawyer's community to remain steadfast in their struggle. He hoped that the lawyer's movement would make the restitution of the judiciary possible as the lawyers were struggling for upholding the rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution. President KBA Mehmood-ul-Hassan also addressed the lawyers and decried the killing and manhandling of lawyers and demanded of the government to compensate the families of the victims. He alleged that President House continue to conspire against the lawyer's movement, asserting that all such efforts would be foiled through lawyers' unity.
