Hailstorm lashes parts of country

LAHORE Heavy hailstorm hit the provincial metropolis and other parts of the country on late Friday night causing steep dip in temperature which tasted its first summer heat though comparatively far less in intensity in comparison to previous years. In Lahore, winds lashed with a speed of 55 kilometres per hour. Scattered rain and thunderstorm occurred in divisions of Rawalpindi and Gujranwala, North East Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. This has delayed the setting of summer, which is already behind its usual time. Rain with dust-thunderstorm is expected in northeast parts of Balochistan from tonight which will continue for next 24-48 hours with intervals. In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, rain with thunderstorm associated with gusty winds is expected at scattered places of region during Friday night, which can continue for next 3-4 days.
