The unanimous approval of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security’s recommendations on relations with the US in a joint session of parliament is indeed a major landmark in our parliament’s history and a step in the right direction. Interestingly, the recommendation on national security were formulated, proposed and passed by the same political parties which were labelled ‘security risk’ by Pervez Musharraf. This resolution proves the supremacy of parliament in strategic decision-making and providing guidelines to the security establishment.
