KARACHI - Acting Consul General of People’s Republic of China called on Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (r) Zahid Qurban Alvi at the CM House on Monday.

They exchanged their views about forthcoming general elections and other matter of mutual interest.

The CM informed the Chinese Consul General that holding of free, fair, transparent and non-partisan elections is the top priority of the government while all the resources have been put in place to accomplish this task in conducive environment. “In this connection I have held continuous meetings with varies politicians, notables, intellectuals and other peoples belonging to different walks of life so that their suggestions should be sought for peaceful and credible conduct of general elections,” he added.

Alvi further said that Pakistan and China enjoy very deep-rooted brotherly and bilateral relations which were being strengthened with the passage of time. He stressed upon the Chinese Consul General for increasing the number of Chinese Language learning centers so that maximum number of people could learn Chinese language.

“This will promote and strengthen the bilateral relations,” he said. The chief minister appreciated the contribution and cooperation of China in development of infrastructure, especially mega project like Gawadar Port.

China’s Acting Consul General said that projects like Gawadar port were reflection of deep-rooted and time-tested Pak-China friendship which was in larger interest of the people of both the countries. He added that Chinese companies are working with government of Pakistan to develop the infrastructure of Gawadar port. Consul General assured the Caretaker Chief Minister for maximum cooperation and assistance on behalf of Chinese government in every sector.
