KARACHI - A cop was gunned down and two others wounded in a targeted attack while a body of a man was found in separate acts of violence here on Monday.

An Assistant Sup-Inspector was gunned down in a targeted attack at Shamsi Society within the jurisdiction of Pakistan Bazaar police station.

Police said that a cop Murtaza Hussain, resident of Block-17, FB area Incholi, was going somewhere when unidentified armed riders targeted him. He died on the spot. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medicolegal formalities. Police said that the victim was affiliated with Shia community and his funeral prayer was offered at Incholi Imam Bargah. A tortured-mark body was found from ASF ground within the premises of Airport police station.

Police said that unknown culprits kidnapped him from somewhere and later dumped his body at an abandoned place after killing. Police shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy and later moved to morgue for identification.

A man affiliated to special branch of police was wounded near Block-J, North Nazimabad within the remits of North Nazimabad police station.

Police said that victim Riaz Ahmed was going somewhere when unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle sprayed bullets on him. He was shifted to ASH for treatment. Police suspected that the motive behind the incident was ongoing wave of targeted operation against criminals.

A traffic policeman was injured in a firing incident at traffic police post within the limits of Surjani Town police station. Police officials said that victim Ghulam Mustafa was performing his duty at said place when unidentified armed riders opened indiscriminate fire on him and managed to flee. He was shifted to ASH. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, a man shot himself to death within the remits of Chakiwara police station. Police said Ibrahim Shah, 25, resident of Bihar Colony, Lyari shot himself when his marriage proposal was rejected by a girl. His body was rushed to Civil Hospital and later handed over to the family after autopsy.
