DCO for foolproof security on vote day








RAWALPINDI – District Coordination Officer (DCO) Arshad Mehmood Langrial has said that foolproof security arrangements would be made on all the polling stations in the district to avoid any untoward incident on May 11, the voting day.
“Sufficient police force and security personals would be deployed specially on sensitive poling station. Instructions have already been conveyed to the police authorities to prepare a comprehensive security plan” DCO said adding that the instructions and code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan would be implemented in letter and spirit.
Similarly, contingents of Army and Rangers would also remain on call and the same would be deployed where it would be needed, he said.
Arshad Langrial stated this while presiding a meeting of District Peace Committee which was attended by City Police Officer (CPO) Abdul Razzaq Cheema, SSP (Operations) Mujahid Akbar, ADCG Saif Anwar Jappa, SEO Aqeel Ahmed Khan, ADLG, District Officer Rescue 1122 and DO Civil Defense and other concerned officers.
DCO directed the Administration of all towns in the district to ensure implementation of code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). He also directed the concerned officers of administration to eradicate wall chalking done by deferent candidates and political parties and ensure that elections banners and posters are placed in accordance with the size announced by the ECP.
He said that generators and flood lights would be made available in the vehicles of TMAs to ensure continuality in the polling process on polling day.
The CPO briefed the meeting about the security arrangements and informed that sensitive polling stations have been divided in to categories of A, B and C and government has been written for provision of additional force, CCTV cameras, walkthrough gates, metal detectors and other necessary logistic support.  DCO directed the Administration of all TMAs to establish control rooms and emergency response centers where senior officers of services providing departments remain available in shifts with a view to ensure supply of electricity, telephone services etc. on the polling day and if  there is any hurdle , it may be removed and  redressed immediately. He also directed rescue 1122, Civil Defense, Bomb Disposal Squad to remain alert to confront any kind of emergency on the Election Day.
The meeting also discussed proposals given by various departments for arrangements on May 11, 2013.
