KARACHI - The General Secretary of Pakistan Muslim League (Q), Mushahid Hussain Syed has indicated that the next government would be made of alliance of various political parties and there is no sign for any party to get success in May 11 general elections unilaterally.
Addressing a packed press conference at Muslim League House, he observed that establishment would not play any role in upcoming elections.
He pointed out that former government did not permit to organise the local bodies election during their five years tenure otherwise plenty of problems could be solved. The upcoming elections would be a day of judgment while the role of election commission, parliament and judiciary is also very important during election campaign.
He said PML-Q had good relations with Functional League and Muthaida Qaumi Movement as the leaders of MQM, when we visited 90, gave wonderful reception. “The party made bridge among all political parties.”
He said upcoming election would be a test case and hopefully it would be transparent election, adding that the election commission dutifully performs its role and anyone who is eligible, can contest election.
He said Nawaz Sharif could also contest election as earlier he was bound not to take part in general elections before 10 years. PML-Q is consulting with the PPP for seat adjustment in Punjab while in Sindh we also involved in consultation with different political parties.
He said in Punjab, the PML-Q will contest the PML-N and Tehrik-e-Insaaf and would make PML-Q government.
Regarding the manifesto, he said, “We have emphasised seven-point issues in our manifesto, including extremism, education, energy, corruption, economy and others while security of journalists is also an important part of our manifesto.”
He informed that PML-Q would make sure the insurance of reporters, cameramen and members of media and would announce group policy regarding this. He appreciated that media performs its duty at front line and during the election campaign, it would also play vital role.
Mushahid said there were a number of issues related with terrorism and failure to control terrorism was a hard core issue of Pakistani nation. He insisted that in order to get success to curb terrorism, nation, Army, federal and provincial governments should make alliance and should make consensus with one-point agenda and refrain from personal interests.
Regarding the Balochistan issue, he observed that people of Baluchistan are patriotic people and there is need to make remedy of their issues and make solution for the sake of national interest.
He also appreciated the performance of Sindh PML-Q President Haleem Adil Shiekh and said he played important role for the recovery of flood victims.
He also expressed condolence over the sad demise of Sahibzada Fazal Karim, president of Sunni Ittehad Council. Asad Junejo, Khan Bahadur Sher, Banu Saghir Siddiqui, Afshan Ali, Jafarul Hassan, Shahid Abbasi and others also present on the occasion.
