KARACHI  - The NA-239 constituency of Keamari has become important for political parties especially for Pakistan Peoples Party which had won this seat in 2008 general elections.

PPP once again gave party ticket to Abdul Qadir Patel for NA-239 (Karachi West-cum-Karachi South) seat.

In 2008 election, out of a total of 312,401 registered voters, 113,052 votes used their right of vote in this constituency. PPP candidate Abdul Qadir Patel secured 56,840 votes and had won this seat while Muttahida Quami Movement candidate Dr KS Mujahid Khan Baloch secured 24,013 votes. The voters turnout was 36.2 percent.

Similarly, in 2002 election, a total of 228,031 registered voters, 75,773 cast votes for the seat. Hakim Qari Gul Rehman of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) had secured 22,164 votes and won this seat, while PPP candidate Iftikhar Hussain obtained 21,461 votes. The voters turnout was 32.2 percent. The MQM has not yet finalised its candidate for the forthcoming polls to this seat.

Ishaq Khan of Jamaat-e-Islami will also contest from the same constituency. The consensus candidate of 10-party alliance is likely to be a challenge to the candidates of other parties.
