ISLAMABAD-Pakistan’s high commissioners-designate for Maldives, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam, Syed Sail Abbas, Tanveer A Khaskheli and Brig (Retd) Muhammad Zareef Malik respectively, called on President Mamnoon Hussain separately at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday and discussed matters pertaining to their new assignments.

The president felicitated the newly appointed envoys and urged them to focus on further deepening Pakistan’s bilateral relations and multifaceted cooperation with the countries of their respective posting. The president on the occasion highlighted that the government attached great importance to the development of trade and economic cooperation as an integral part of its foreign policy objectives. He urged the need for robust pursuance of economic diplomacy by all the diplomats to further strengthen economic footprints of Pakistan in the international market.

The president said that Pakistan enjoyed close and cordial relations with Maldives, Singapore and Brunei and expressed hope that the newly appointed envoys would work with full devotion for further cementing Pakistan’s trade and commercial ties with these countries.  The ambassadors-designate thanked the president for reposing confidence in them and assured that they would do their best to augment Pakistan’s bilateral relations with the countries of their posting with particular focus on broadening trade, business and investment ties.
