LAHORE - Punjab Textbook Board Chairman Nawazish Ali has said that the board has got printed 82 million textbooks for classes 1 to 10 for free distribution in public sector schools and has provided to the concerned authorities.

Presiding over a meeting on Tuesday, he said in time provision of textbooks was top priority of the board. He said this year for the first time in the history of board, textbooks have been got printed and supplied before time.

The chairman said that in pursuance of directions of the chief minister, the PTB was working to decrease the cost to be incurred on development of textbooks. In this way the PTB will save millions of rupees and price of textbooks will further lessen. He expressed that printing of textbooks according to the scheduled time was a big challenge, but PTB team worked hard day and night to achieve this target.

He was of the view that there was a dire need of change in content of textbooks keeping in view the requirements of present era. Since 12 years there has been no change in the textbooks. To bring uniformity in the curriculum, National Curriculum Authority needs to be formulated, he held.
