Rawalpindi - The anti-narcotics force (ANF) during operations against drug mafia recovered 107-kg narcotics, besides busting a gang involved in trafficking 6,493 ecstasy tablets, informed ANF Headquarters spokesman on Wednesday.

According to him, ANF in its drive against drug trafficking conducted 5 operations across the country which resulted in recovery of 106.3-kg hashish, 6,943 psychotropic tablets (ecstasy), 800-grams heroin and 300 grams opium.

ANF also arrested 12 drug traffickers during these operations. The total value of recovered drugs approximately Rs. 291.5 million in international market, he added. He said that ANF Rawalpindi on pursuance of an intelligence report conducted raid at Hill View Hotel, Margalla Road, Islamabad; seized 6,943 psychotropic tablets (ecstasy) and arrested 4 persons namely Anjum, Aftab, Khalid and Imran. According to preliminary investigations, all the accused belong to Karachi and are professional carriers of psychotropic tablets.  The ANF Karachi on pursuance of information raided in Malir area and seized 100-kg hashish.

During operation, 5 persons were taken into custody.

In another operation in Karachi, 4.2 kg-hashish and 300 grams opium was recovered whereas ANF arrested a local drug peddler namely Raheem Shah, resident of Mardan, and recovered 2.1-kg hashish from his possession. He was arrested during an operation conducted near Landhi, Karachi.
