At the recent Avengers: Age of Ultron press junket, Collider asked Chris Hemsworth how many films were left on his Marvel contract. The Answer? Three.

“I’m three films away from [the end of my contract]; I’ve got Avengers 3 and 4 and I’ve got Thor 3.”

This means that Thor is likely not showing up in Captain America: Civil War, but he will be around for the new Avengers team for Avengers: Infinity War parts I and II as Marvel Studios culminates their longest running storyline thus far. Right now, it’s being rumored that the next phase of Avengers films will feature newer prospects like Doctor Strange, as the current Avengers team has contracts that are close to running out: Robert Downey, Jr. has Civil War and Infinity War on his docket, and Chris Evans also has three films left. We’ll see what happens because the current crop of superheroes can’t hang around forever.
