UIC announces 40pc profit for shareholders
LAHORE (STAFF REPORTER): The 55th annual meeting of United Insurance Company of Pakistan Ltd. was held here in a local hotel.  Chief Executive Rahat Sadiq informed the company's shareholders about company's financial status and said in the fiscal year 2014, the company's business transaction remained above Rs 2.47 billion while profit stood at Rs460 million. On this occasion the board announced 40 per cent profit for its shareholders. Company's paid up capital now stands at Rs1.28 billion.
The shareholders expressed their satisfaction about annual accounts of the company. Group Chairman Mian MA Shahid shed light on important aspects of investment in microfinance banking which was appreciated by the shareholders.  Mian MA Shahid, directors Khwas Khan Niazi, Mohammad Rahat Sadiq, Madam Huma Waheed and other office-bearers attended the meeting.

Allied Schools ceremony

LAHORE (PR): Allied Schools High Achievers Award Ceremony 2015 for the students of classes 5 and 8 of Allied Schools in Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) will be held in Punjab College Campus 10, Lahore on Thursday (today). The ceremony will be graced by Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman Punjab Group of Colleges, Mian Amer Mahmood, and Executive Director Prof Sohail Afzal.

Bahria University event

ISLAMABAD (PR): The ceremony of “Prime Minister Youth Laptop Scheme was conducted by Bahria University with the collaboration of HEC on Wednesday.
This scheme has been initiated by the Federal govt to help enhance the access to information technology. The laptops are being awarded to students studying in public sector higher education institutes across the country as, part of the Prime Minister’s youth programs for FY2013-14.
Tariq Afzal Chouhdary – MNA (N) was the chief guest of the ceremony. Pro-Rector, Rear Admiral Saleem Akhtar congratulated the HEC and the government of Pakistan for the successful execution of the scheme and also to the students who have come up to criteria for award. About 433 students of BU have successfully received the laptops and Evo devices and in yesterday’s ceremony distributed about 100 more laptops to the remaining students of post graduate programs.

AGM of Al Baraka Group
MANAMA (PR): Al Baraka Banking Group B.S.C held its ordinary and extra-ordinary general meetings recently in Manama, the capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Group's shareholders reviewed in relation to the financial year ended 31 December 2014 the report of the Board of Directors on the Group's activities, the auditors’ report on the financial statements and the report of the Unified Sharia Supervisory Board. The consolidated financial statements for the financial year ended 31 December 2014 were also reviewed and approved.
The meeting approved, upon the recommendations of the Board of Directors, the transfer of 10% of the net income amounting to US$ 15,173,115 to the statutory reserve, the distribution of $32,816,061 as cash dividend to the shareholders registered as of the date of this meeting and amounting to 3 cents for each share equal to 3% of the par value of the share, the transfer of $103,741,971 to the retained earnings, and approval of the proposed distribution of one bonus share for every 50 fully paid up shares to the shareholders registered as of the date of this meeting amounting to US$ 21,877,374 and equal to 2% of the issued and paid up capital from the retained earnings subject to the obtaining of the required official approvals.
