ISLAMABAD - President Pakistan Muslim League (Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain Friday said that President Musharraf will face the charges against him when an impeachment motion comes to the parliament. Talking to a privata television channel, the PML-Q Chief said that so far nothing with regard to impeachment charges has been made public and the President and his supporters are waiting for the same. Responding to a question about reports in Western media regarding the resignation of President Musharraf prior to impeachment move, he said there is no truth in these reports because the President is committed to face the situation and he has no intention to resign. Asked after the no confidence resolution of all the provincial assemblies which are the electoral college of President, the PML-Q leader said there is no provision in the Constitution that allows the provincial assemblies to pass no-confidence motions against the President. These are the political tactics by the treasury benches to put psychological pressure on President to resign, he said. To a question the PML-Q head said that President Musharraf has the constitutional right to explain his position at the forum of parliament. Responding to another question he said it is tactically inappropriate to disclose that what course the PMLQ and its allies would adopt against the impeachment move, adding that they are however prepared to face the situation. He was of the opinion that President Musharraf has many options to use with regard to impeachment move but the selection would be made in accordance with the conditions that would emerge after the move is brought to the parliament. The PML-Q Chief further said that President does not need any safe passage adding that this term is being floated only to pressurise him.
