ISLAMABAD - District TB Control Officer Dr Syed Mazhar Ali Shah returned from Japan after successfully completing a two-month research diploma sponsored by JICA from TB Control Institute, Japan, says a press release issued here. Dr Mazhar represented Pakistan there and also presented his thesis.  In a statement he said that representing Pakistan abroad was an honour for him. He held extensive dialogues with other experts from around the world and all of them updated their knowledge regarding important developments taking place in this field. DR Mazhar said that he informed the participants about TB cure and DOTS treatment in Pakistan. He was of the opinion that TB control methods are quite effective in Pakistan, especially in NWFP and Abbottabad district, as compared to the rest of the world. The JICA experts and other participants of the course lauded the efforts to eradicate TB in Pakistan. Dr Mazhar vowed to take advantage of the developments taking place around the world in this field for its timely cure.  He also thanked the JICA for sending him abroad on this important assignment.
