Sacked employees of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited want to draw the attention of President Zardari and PM Gilani towards a serious problem that besets us for more than five months now. About 783 employees of the SNGPL were recruited in the 2nd regime of ex-PM Benazir Bhutto but with the dismissal of the Benazir government, all of them were terminated without any reason. After termination from the job the sacked employees had a hope that whenever the PPP will come will come into power, they will be restored without delay. After February 2008 elections, PPP's federal cabinet approved the reinstatement of sacked employees and on 14February 2009 president Asif Ali Zardari issued an ordinance for the same. But not a single employee has since been restored due to the hurdles created by MD SNGPL Rasheed Lone. MD Rasheed Lone is not acting on the ordinance from the very beginning and this despite the fact that he is an appointee of the PPP. I request the PM to issue orders for reinstatement of the sacked employees without any further delay and take strict action against MD SNGPL for not acting on the Presidential ordinance forthwith. -MUHAMMAD SAFWAN, Peshawar, via e-mail, August 1.
