RAWALPINDI – Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) in its crackdown against traffic rules violators, one-wheeling, negligent and dangerous driving on the occasion of Independence Day on Tuesday impounded 403 motorcycles.
Traffic Police also issued 510 challan tickets to motorcyclists who were found indulged in rash and negligent driving. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) told that special teams were formed to launch grand operation against one-wheelers on the occasion of Independence Day on Aug 13 and 14.
Traffic wardens were directed to impound motorcycles of one-wheelers in respective police stations besides the rules violators should be sent behind the bars.
Chief Traffic Officer, (CTO) Superintendent Police (SP) Syed Ishtiaq Shah told that strict orders were issued to all the traffic wardens, Inspectors, Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) of all sectors that no one should be spared and all the youngsters particularly those found moving on the city roads on altered motorcycles especially prepared for one wheeling should be impounded. 
CTP launched special drive against wheelie bsides several arrangements to curb the activity aimed at protecting the youngsters as one wheeling is a cause of deaths and severe injuries for the riders said City Traffic Officer (CTO).
He said traffic police officers were directed to keep a vigilant eye on the one-wheelers especially on Aug 14 so that action in accordance with the law could be taken against them.
Under special arrangements, traffic officials were deployed at various points.  
He urged the citizens particularly parents that they should come forward and play their role to curb the activity as one wheeling, rash and negligent driving are the main causes for fatal accidents.  
Meanwhile, police under its ongoing drive against anti-social elements and one-wheelers have arrested 34 lawbreakers including 15 one-wheelers. Police recovered 2045 grams charras, 11 bottles of liquor, five pistols 30 bore with 14 rounds and one rifle with 10 rounds from the possession of the arrested persons.
Meanwhile, Waris Khan police taking action against one-wheelers, rash and negligent driving conducted raids at Committee Chowk, Murree road on Aug 14 and held three youth namely Ismail, Moais and Waqas. Sadiqabad police under its operation against one-wheeling netted Waqar and Zeeshan from Transfarmor chowk.
Similarly, Cantt Police sent behind the bars seven one-wheelers namely Ahsan, Hameed, Sajid, Amir, Zeeshan, Khayial and Riasat while Airport police caught three motorcyclists, Husnain, Waheed and Aqeel who were found indulged in rash and negligent driving.
