LAHORE – Pakistan was the first ideological state that came into being as a result of a religious movement but the civil, military and technocrat regimes during the last 65 years had tried to deprive it of its ideological character and make it a secular state, said Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Munawar Hasan.

The JI chief was addressing the concluding ceremony of the 33rd Tafseer-e-Quran course at Mansoora mosque on Tuesday. Former Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Qazi Husain Ahmed, Maulana Abdul Maalik and Ch Muhammad Aslam Saleemi also addressed the gathering.

While speaking on the occasion, the JI chief added that there was dire need to start a struggle on the lines of Pakistan movement to transform the country into a real Islamic welfare state.

Munawar observed that fake coins in the pocket of Quaid-e-Azam and their offspring had deviated the nation from achieving its goal of transforming the country into an Islamic welfare state. He claimed that the country had been run by the people educated at westernised elite schools who neither accepted Islam as a system of life nor allowed it to prosper in the country.

The JI Ameer said after the defeat of socialism and communism, secularism and western civilisation had taken the world in their grip, because our ceremonies of joy and grief were under the influence of the West. He stressed the students to devote their lives to spreading the Quran’s teachings.
